You know that feeling when you're
doing everything right, the
meditation, the journaling, the
pushing through, and you still feel
like something is fundamentally off?
Today's guest has spent years
inside that exact question.
What she found will shift the
way you understand your own body.
Welcome to Alignment Before Success.
I'm your host, Dr. Anastasia
Chopelas, physicist turned master
energy healer, and your guide to
the science and soul of alignment.
Let's get your energy moving in one
clear direction, body, mind, and spirit,
so success becomes your natural state
Dr. Amy Albright is a doctor of
Chinese medicine who works at
the crossroads of energy anatomy,
meridian science, and what I'd call
the deeper intelligence of the body.
What she's discovered
working with everyone
From everyday people to high-performing
leaders is that the body doesn't lie.
When you're out of alignment with who
you truly are designed to be, it shows
up every time So let's get into it.
Dr. Amy, so glad you're here
what does alignment mean to you, exactly?
You know, the, the balancing of the
meridians is a game of alignment.
the alignment of our mind
to our heart, of course.
But I think that the biggest and deepest
alignment is actually to our true path
and to who we are really designed to be.
'Cause although we all look, you know,
more or less kind of the same as humans.
There's actually quite a lot of variance
in the way that we are to express
and what our path and our journey is.
Mm-hmm.
And what we are to honor within ourselves.
So really aligning to that.
That's what I saw in my first year of
practice is when people were trying to
fight their design, they would always have
ailments or, you know, issues
with relationships or whatever.
And I just thought that my job was to
help them to come back into that alignment
and that when they were aligned, they
didn't have anything to fight or resist.
So the pain would drop away.
Often their body would alleviate with
whatever suffering it was having.
So it really amazing.
so I think that's the biggest alignment.
And then, and then kind of, if
that's the big, big picture,
the next level of alignment is
alignment to the present moment.
Yes.
I like bringing people into the now and
get focused into the now because then
the past falls away and the, so all
of the guilt over the past and all the
worry over the future just falls away.
'cause you're right now.
Okay.
Right.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Yes,
that's right.
It's
potent.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So that just leads me into my next
question is when the mind, body, and
spirit are out of sync, I call it out of
alignment, what actually happens inside
a person, especially for high performers
and leaders experiencing burnout?
Yeah, I mean, I think that almost all high
performers that I have seen are in some
state of burnout or burnout, recovery.
It's incredible.
a lot of the time I think that we maybe
look at What we believe that somebody
is experiencing based on the accolades
they've received or how they're presenting
in their photos that they've posted
on social or whatever the thing is.
and what we really end up seeing is.
again, because we have a brain
laboratory, we can look inside
of their brains and see.
and I can also just perceive and,
and hear and listen for the amount
of burnout that is there, the amount
of misalignment that is there.
Often because people, we've
been taught that we have to,
it's the dog eat dog world
again.
We were just on this, you know, this idea
of, competition rather than collaboration.
Mm-hmm.
So.
People really believe that they
have to get there through struggle,
through pushing and performance,
through pressuring themselves,
through shaming themselves.
If that doesn't work, you know,
through always assessing and
scanning the horizon for danger.
So we've done a lot to really put
ourselves into a very damaging place,
not just for our physical health,
but also for our emotional and our
spiritual health, because we've
reduced ourselves into these little.
beings that feel like we should
be autonomous and know how to
handle everything on our own.
And our systems aren't designed for that.
Our society isn't designed for that.
It's, it goes against the way
that we've always lived here
on planet Earth as humans.
So you know what, what can happen is
that people, I also see people praying
to the false God, I say, of money.
There's a false God of science,
'cause I think that science is amazing.
Obviously we both love science,
but we can't say that science knows
everything or else we're foolish
because that's not possible.
And also we can't start to put our, full
faith into that if we make money that
it's going to make us feel a certain way.
I would say in my, in my practice, I
have, supported quite wealthy individuals.
You know, the, the multimillion
up into billionaires.
And they have often a sense of panic,
a sense of scarcity of their time, a
sense of trying to prove, and please,
you know, they're afraid that they're
going to lose out on different things.
Maybe the opportunity to make more money
or the opportunity to impress someone,
is still really important to them, even
though they don't technically have any
need for money and what they want to
be focused on is giving that money away
or doing things with it in that regard.
But I, I just see that there's this
illness that exists inside that doesn't
get handled no matter what the success,
financial or accolades or whatever.
So getting people aligned means
that they can be in a place
of joy and liberation now.
And that is, that's real freedom.
You know,
I, I agree.
Yeah.
People might focus on financial freedom,
but then they'll often move the, the
yardstick on what they need for finances.
So does that ever come true or,
but definitely it's, um, it can
be the case that they, all along
the way have felt quite empty.
And that their heads and their hearts
and, and their true path, like what
were they, what are they here to do?
Maybe never even was found
inside of all of that.
I agree with that.
I have, I've lived through a whole
range of experiences during all
these years and I, you know, there
was a point in my life where.
there was never any fear
of not having enough money.
Never.
There was always plentiful, and
the bank account grew and we got to
travel all over and do anything we
wanted, and I never even looked at
price most of the time for things.
And then after I divorced
that individual, then.
You know, sometimes there wasn't enough
money at the end of the month, right?
There was like, oh, I just need like
another, I lived in Germany at that
time, another a hundred marks to, to
make it to the end of the month and.
And I remember my parents were visiting
and I just was thinking to myself, oh,
I just need another a hundred marks.
And there was a bundled up a hundred mark
Bill on the ground right in front of me.
Wow.
I picked it up and I go,
oh look, a hundred marks.
And she goes, and I was just thinking,
yeah, if I had a hundred marks, I'd
make it to the end of the month.
And she goes, you should
have wished for more.
I said, yeah, I wouldn't have
gotten it, but, but, but you know.
It, it did not change my happiness level.
Right?
Being, being rich and struggling
to make ends meet doesn't didn't
change my happiness level.
That's from, that's internal,
and so the people that are
like chasing after a dollar.
Or chasing after.
Some people chase after love, and
then they find that the, you know,
one sexual partner after another
never satisfies them, right?
So whatever it is that they're chasing.
Some people collect things, and some
people hoard things and none of that.
It just shows that there's some
emptiness or misalignment inside.
At least that's from my viewpoint.
Yeah.
Yeah, I would agree.
Yeah.
Misalignment, emptiness, and, and often
it's a, it's a lack of connection.
Maybe we could frame it
like the broad piece.
Either a connection to themselves
and the truth of them, or their
own sense of wellbeing, connecting
to that, or connection to beings
outside of them, whether that's
nature or, people or mm-hmm.
You know, whatever it is
that's outside of them.
Yeah.
I find that the, for me, the first
step was loving and accepting
myself just the way I am.
Mm-hmm.
With all the flaws, you
know, whatever it is.
yeah.
So you integrate cognitive, emotional,
physical, and spiritual intelligence.
How does bringing those four together
change the healing or performance process
compared to traditional approaches?
Yeah.
You know, if, if we deny the, the emotions
and we just work in the kind of the
intellect, we know that that doesn't.
It doesn't work.
We can't think our way through these,
complex spaces that we get into as humans.
But I would say also that even within
the emotional processing, if we don't
bring together the physical, then
that can be difficult too, because
we have things stored in our body.
Traumas and beliefs and and things like
that really do get stored in our body.
But I would say that to be able
to bring it all together into a
spiritual intelligence is essential.
And it doesn't matter exactly what
someone's spiritual beliefs are,
but just understanding that we're
interconnected and that there's some
sort of a higher power or a higher plan.
That's often just plenty.
But what I really love to do is to
be able to, within that spiritual
intelligence, teach people how to
work with their energy anatomy.
So to back up I'm like, I, we, you
said, I'm a doctor of Chinese medicine.
And so for those that maybe are, you know,
not sure about this energy field coming
off of the body, we know that we have
these pipes of energy, that the body is
flowing and that's how the meridians work.
And that's the basis of
how acupuncture works.
Mm-hmm.
And that energy, just like you
were saying earlier, it flows off
of the body and it can be measured
out however far, you know, based on
our equipment at a certain moment.
But we have to wonder
how far it really goes.
And if we can learn to work
with that energetic anatomy
the way that we've learned
to maybe work out at the gym.
Maybe we've thought about how we
eat and how that impacts our body.
If we know how to take care of our
physical body, but we don't know how to
take care of our spiritual or energetic
sense of ourselves and our, and our actual
anatomy, we're really missing so much.
So, that's one of the most
important elements that I feel like
ties everything together, and it
also allows for a big zoom out.
When we're inside of the space of our
spiritual intelligence, we're tapped into
our physical body, the world around us.
We're tapped into our intuition.
We're tapped into the truth of our plan.
We're tapped into the
divinity that we are.
And that helps us to alleviate a lot of
suffering and also become more strategic
right away because if we are too zoomed
in on, but I was always told that I
have to be this and this is what I am
and this is my job title and this is,
then we will often not see a solution
because we are too close to the problem.
We're too close to the problem mindset,
and we don't have enough perspective.
Right.
If you're trying to solve a jigsaw
puzzle and you've, and you've got
your nose almost touching the, the
table that it's set up on, it's
very difficult to find those pieces.
Right.
It's just
great.
Great analogy.
How
it works.
Yes, exactly.
It's like all those.
Self-help groups and 12 step groups,
and they just define themselves
like I'm the child of an alcoholic.
Or they define themselves and then
They don't allow for anything else.
Like all of my behavior is
defined along that path, and it
makes it difficult to change.
Or to see it beyond, and
it can be true.
It's, yeah.
So maybe somebody is the
adult child of an alcoholic.
I am.
That's, that actually is true for me.
and I've had X, Y, z, all these different
kinds of traumas that are, and, and you
know, and I'm currently, I, I live here
and I don't live there, and I have this
color of skin and not that color of skin.
Those things.
Ultimately they can all matter.
I think that it is different to
be a female than it is a male.
I think it's different to be mm-hmm.
Just, not only how we feel about
ourselves, but also how society treats us.
I think it's very different
based on, on ethnicity.
I know it is.
Mm-hmm.
Right.
All these things are very real and we're
not defined by any of those things.
Correct.
Right.
Because mm-hmm.
Those, all of those things are true.
They fit inside of a container,
but that bigger container
is the truth of who we are.
Mm-hmm.
Right.
And those identities can fit inside and
some of them are not going to change.
Like maybe my ethnicity won't change
in this lifetime, but maybe my
personality gets to massively change.
Yes.
Because I've decided that I don't have
to be small and downtrodden, and that
I would like to develop myself in these
ways and forget the old identity and
personality in ways that no longer
fit for me because I've decided that
I want something different for myself.
So that's an example of a zoom out.
I think that it takes that spiritual
component to remember, oh wait, I'm a
timeless soul on an endless journey.
Yes.
Currently wrapped in a
body of somebody named Amy.
Great.
That almost has nothing
to do with anything.
'cause the timeless soul on an
endless journey is the real thing.
And so then when we put those other,
identifiers in there, they can be tools
that we work with inside of a landscape.
I think it's important that
I, for a while, worked through
that I had an alcoholic parent.
I think that's important.
I think so too, but it's no longer
an identifying factor for who I am.
Yeah.
I had an alcoholic husband, so I get it.
yeah.
So it's, that's.
Go
ahead.
Because you respond to
their, to their issues.
You respond to their issues.
And so then you get trained
with having those responses
to the alcoholic and mm-hmm.
You know, for me it was questioning
what made me attract to that person
and what am I doing to stay in that.
In that environment to
do that dance with him.
And it allowed me to move away.
I also had a lot of guilt
training when I was little.
I was guilty over everything and
now I, yeah, I don't think I feel
guilty about much at all anymore.
Yeah.
And that's, and it's important that
you identified as somebody that was
trained with a lot of guilt as a kid.
So that you could overcome it mm-hmm.
But not become it.
Right.
Not to reinforce it.
And that's, that's a lot
of the trick of that.
Exactly.
And so keeping that bigger frame
of wait, this is who I really am.
And no matter what I really believe or
what I even know about myself, there's
so many more miracles that haven't
been discovered, even in how our
body is functioning in every moment.
We're just miracles.
Right?
Yeah.
And so what can we become
and what's possible for us?
And where are we going to find a
hundred marks on the sidewalk next?
That becomes a different, right,
that's a different picture.
It's a different adventure.
Yes.
Mm-hmm.
Exactly.
And you, we don't like, people don't
even know what all their talents are
'cause they don't try anything new.
Like a lot of older people,
I'm too old to try that.
I'm too old to learn the piano.
I'm too old to learn how to paint.
Like I started painting when
I was 50 and, I have a lot of
beautiful paintings that I've.
That I've done that I didn't even
know I could do until I tried it.
and that's part of being
creative, like creativity mm-hmm.
Is one of the, there's eight factors that.
Fall into what helps people
live longer, be happier, and
creativity is number three.
Got it.
Yeah.
I would say that with creativity,
what that is the loose
definition of what is true.
Oh, excellent.
Right?
Yes.
Because if you believe that you can't
paint, then that is a tight definition.
So again, if, if you believe inside
of the construct of you and who you
think you are, there's a container
that that is gonna be represented
by in our little analogy here.
And if you have in there a non
painter or a non-creative person,
then you've kind of brought the
walls in because that automatically
closes down the possibilities of the
belief structure about who you think
you are in more ways than just painting.
Yeah.
It's just, it's like shrinking
the energy field around you.
Mm-hmm.
The more you shrink, the less energy it
holds and the less you're able to do.
So being expansive, expanding
out, allowing the energy, giving
you that oomph to do new things.
Mm-hmm.
That's important.
This interview with Dr. Amy inspired
today's word of the day, resonance.
It's a scientific term meaning
that two things that are at the
same wavelength, and when you
ring one, the other will follow.
the frequencies synchronize
and amplify one another.
What you repeatedly think, feel, and
speak becomes the signal you broadcast.
When that signal rings out, a like
signal will ring back, and that's how
you attract what you attract in your life
You're not broken because the
wrong things keep showing up.
You may simply be in resonance
with what's stored inside you.
You can change the inner signal and the
outer story follows Today's practice
is to notice one belief that keeps
appearing in your circumstances at
work, in relationships, in your body.
What frequency is it broadcasting?
And is that the one you want?
Let's do a little healing on that
through this quiet meditation.
called Calling the Body into
Resonance with the Inner Self
Find a comfortable seated or
lying position with your spine
straight and arms and legs relaxed.
Take a long, deep breath through your nose
And release it slowly through your mouth.
Send a grounding cord down from the base
of your spine to the center of the earth.
Make it nice and wide, and set
it to release any excess energy.
Feel the tension, worry, and the
noise of the day drain down that cord
Imagine soft roots growing from
the soles of your feet, pushing
into the earth, anchoring you.
Settle into your body, present and at ease
Move yourself to the center of
your head from your control center.
From this quiet place, ask gently,
"What signal have I been broadcasting?"
Without judgment, let one belief surface,
the one that keeps showing up in your
work, your relationships, or your body.
Maybe it sounds like I'm not
enough, or it's always hard,
or no one really sees me.
Whatever it is, let it rise.
You're not broken because
this keeps appearing.
You're simply in resonance with
something stored inside you
And what's stored can always be cleared.
Picture that old belief as a sound,
a color, or a dense cloud living
somewhere in your body, maybe your
chest, your belly, your shoulders,
your upper back, or your throat.
Place a beautiful rose right in front
of that spot and let the rose draw
the old energy out note by note until
that part of you is humming clear.
When the rose is full, send it down
your grounding cord to the center of the
Earth, where it's purified and recycled.
You can keep doing that
until you feel relief.
Breathe in deeply, exhale slowly,
and feel that place in your body
soften and quiet as you send more and
more of that energy into your rose.
Now bring an enormous golden sun to
the top of your head, encoded with
the frequency of your true inner
self, your authentic divine signal.
Let it pour down through your
crown, filling every cell and
every space you've just cleared.
As it moves through you, your body
begins to vibrate at this truer note.
Place your hand on your heart and
speak silently, "I align my body with
my inner self. I broadcast what and
who I truly am, whole, worthy, loving,
and free." Feel your cells listen.
Feel them remember.
Feel them tune.
Let that golden frequency expand
outward through your energy field,
out to the extent from 18 inches
or half a meter to a full meter.
Make the edges sharp, defined, and
completely filled in, even in the back.
Your field is now a clear reflection of
what's happening energetically inside you.
As you broadcast this signal, the
universe begins to mirror it back,
drawing toward you the people,
opportunities, and experiences
that resonate with your true self.
Place one more golden sun on the top of
your head, a golden sun of validation.
Say to yourself, "I am capable.
I am beautiful.
I am lovable.
I am loved.
I am a perfect divine creation exactly
as I am." Let the sun sink down into
your body to fill all your cells front
to back, side to side, top to bottom
to incorporate your new resonance.
Snap your spirit into your body like
a buckle clicking into a seatbelt all
the way down to your fingers and toes.
Wiggle them.
Take three deep cleansing breaths and
slowly exhale and come back into the room.
Open your eyes refreshed,
aligned, and clear.
Your inner signal is set.
Let your day reflect it back to you
How do you feel?
Relaxed and lighter?
